An Audience with Tim Hunkin

Join us on 17th May from 5:30-7pm for an audience with Tim Hunkin. An alumnus of the Cambridge Engineering Department, Tim has had a colourful and unconventional career as an engineer, inventor, maker of automata, an horologist, animator, cartoonist, documentary maker and special effects artist.

His work can be found in his brilliant novelty arcades on Southwold Pier and in Holborn, in museums and institutions across the country, on television and even on tour with Pink Floyd, all of it encompassing his brilliant artistry, unique humour and limitless ingenuity. Tim is probably best known for his Channel 4 television series ‘The Secret Life of Machines’ and ‘The Secret Life of the Office’, recently remastered and available on YouTube. Tim’s passion for engineering is infectious and engaging – anyone who can turn a lathe into a fax machine is worth hearing!

The event will be both in-person in the Engineering Department, and broadcast online. We look forward to welcoming you.
